meiji jingu, tokyo, japan



Wenn man den Meiji Schrein besucht, glaubt man kaum, dass man gerade im Bezirk Shibuya in Tokio ist. Der Schrein ist dem Kaiser Meiji und seiner Frau (oder vielmehr deren Seelen) gewidmet und von 70 Hektar Wald umgeben. Hier wird auch gern traditionell geheiratet und es war schon spektakulär, so einen typisch shintoistischen Brautzug zu bestaunen...




While you're visiting the Meiji Shrine it's easy to forget that you're in the lively Shibuya district of Tokyo. The shrine is dedicated to the emperor Meiji and his wife (or more accurately to their souls) and surrounded by about 70 hectars of forrest. It's also popular for weddings and it was quite spectacular to watch a typical Shinto bridal procession...
