memory lab (martin-gropius-bau)

Eine Fotoausstellung im Martin-Gropius-Bau, die netterweise ohne Eintritt zu sehen ist? Natürlich schau' ich da mal vorbei! In "Memory Lab" soll es um die heutige fotografische Darstellung von geschichtlichen, sozialen kulturellen Zuständen und Veränderungen gehen. Mehrere Fotografen werden hier versammelt und neben deren Bildern gibt es auch Installationen und Filme. Ich könnte nicht sagen, dass mich jemand wirklich erreicht hätte und manchmal ging mir dieses provokante Element, das so wirkt als würde es nur um seiner selbst willen eingesetzt, ziemlich auf die Nerven. Das ist aber immer so bei mir. Trotzdem finden sich in der Fülle auch spannende Arbeiten.

Weil in der Ausstellung natürlich nicht fotografiert werden darf, bekommt ihr als kleine Entschädigung Bilder vom Martin-Gropius-Bau... mitsamt einer wilden und viel zu wenig beachteten Installation in den Toilettenräumen. 

A photography exhibition in Martin-Gropius-Bau that is free of charge? Well, yes, of course i'll have a look! "Memory Lab" is supposed to be about today's photographical representation of historical, social and cultural states and changes. Several photographers are shown here and besides theirs photos you also can find installations and movies. I could not say that i have been particularly moved by anyone and sometimes the provocative element that is just used because it is a provocation is quite annoyng to me. Well, that's an issue i always have. Anyway, there are some interesting images in the exhibition.

As taking pictures is prohibited, of course, i'll show you some photos of the Martin-Gropius-Bau... including a quite touching but completely overlooked installation in the lavatory. 

"Memory Lab: Die Wiederkehr des Sentimentalen" läuft noch bis zum 15. Dezember 2014.
