les collègues

{die kollegen}

Julia and her part-time jobs... in addition to my German lessons i also sneak through the woods to add to my daily bred and have the (sometimes dubios) pleasure of working with an almost all female team. It is a somehow interesting bunch and after about two weeks i know them rather well. What unites almost all of them is a French boyfriend ("but the French-German ones are the worst!" - comment by two of my co-workers) who made them come to Paris and whom they followed without a great knowledge of French... i would like to introduce you to some of them... but i guess i´ll stop if you don´t enjoy the "first round"
Let´s start with my "neighbour". (The picture above is supposed to give you an impression of her but is not too accurate). She herself has quite recently started the job and was fast in finding some nice words for me when i began to work. When she dropped the sentence "I am actually an actress!" I had to struggle hard to keep myself and my facial expressions in line. Since this day she is "the actress" when i talk about her at home and Arnaud said i should call her "the artist" as she loves to talk (about herself) a lot (Jean Dujardin? Got it?). I already checked her homepage online and also found her profile on imdb. Quite impressive as she had some minor roles and even (kind of typical?) acted in a horror movie.
During the last few days she was in a terrible mood, though, and her favourite word is "professional", because she can´t stop stating that another colleague does not have this quality... very tiring! I share her awkward feeling of having to re-start and being at the bottom of the picking order but that is just the way it works when you are new to a job... she also never stops pointing out that she has spent the last years of her life in London that she always pronounces in a very British way. It´s not that i don´t think living in London is great - but it´s no special achievement for me. I adore her style (yesss, quite a topic in a nearly all-women team) and as soon as she is in a good mood she is a very nice person... probably she won´t be sitting next to me for a long time as she is bound to be discovered during one of her castings and finally becomes a great and known actress!
