books i read #01/2017

Ich bin ja mal gespannt, wie es mit dieser Kategorie und dem Blog an sich in diesem Jahr weitergeht... theoretisch müsste ich jetzt viiiel Zeit zum Bloggen haben, aber so kurz vorm Mutterschutz will man noch alles schön abschließen und die Arbeit ordentlich  übergeben und dann mittendrin gibt's immer mehr Termine und Aufgaben rund um den Nachwuchs. Da ich aber die großzügigste Leserschaft der Welt habe, macht euch das natürlich gar nichts aus...

So, jetzt aber zu den Büchern im neuen Jahr. Es gab sogar gleich vier davon - kein schlechter Start! Laut goodreads fand ich das Drehbuch zu "Fantastische Tierwesen und wo sie zu finden sind" am besten. Meine Standard-drei-Sterne-Bewertung gab's für den Rest... dabei muss ich aber zugeben, dass drei Sterne auch 3,5 oder mehr bedeuten könnten... ach, ich schwafel.

Frau Rowling kann bei mir schreiben, was sie will - ich find's eigentlich immer gut. Ein Drehbuch kann ähnlich wie ein Theaterstück eine Herausforderung sein, wenn man aber an das Genre gewöhnt ist, macht das Lesen genauso viel Spaß und erzeugt ein schickes Kopfkino. Einziger Nachteil für mich waren die schon bekannten Gesichter der Schauspieler... oha, ich muss mir den Film ja noch ansehen!

Jojo Moyes kam meinem Wunsch nach fröhlicher Unterhaltungslektüre wieder sehr entgegen, auch wenn der Plot bei One Plus One eher abwegig klingt. Ein bisschen Roadtripdrama vorm Happy End ist immer gut.

Ein Monat ohne Mercy Thompson?! Vielleicht wird's im Februar, aber im Januar gab's Band 7 der Reihe von Patricia Briggs. "Frost Burned" ist solide, aber auch nicht mein Favorit.

Mit Storm Front von Jim Butcher habe ich gleich die nächste Serie begonnen. Band 1 der Bücher um den Magier Harry Dresden vereint die klassische Detektivgeschichte mit Großstadtzauberern. Hat für mich einen gewissen Mercy Thompson Rhythmus und erweckt genügend Neugier um weiterzulesen.

Well, well... i am curious to see how this category and the blog in itself are going to continue this year... in theory i should have lots and lots of time for blogging right now but with "Mutterschutz" approaching (lit. "mother protection", maternity leave in Germany starts before the birth!) you just wanna make sure everything is wrapped up nicely and that your work can be easily continued... well, and then there are all those other appointments and tasks popping up that are baby-related. I am sure y'all don't mind as you are the most generous readers in existence.

Alright, on to the books of this year! I even managed to read four - not a bad start! According to goodreads i liked the screenplay for "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" best. The others just received my standard three stars rating... although i must admit that for me that also includes 3,5 or more... oh, well, i ramble.

Mrs. Rowling seems to be able to write anything and i'll love it. A screenplay is just as challenging as a theatre play but when you're used to the genre and have some imagination reading it is just as much fun and makes for some excellent cinema of your mind. The only disadvantage for me were the actors faces that i couldn't get out of my head coz i had already seen the trailer... oh, i really have to watch that movie!

I grabbed the Jojo Moyes novel for some easy entertainment and that's exactly what it felt like. The plot of One Plus One may be a little unrealistic at times but a little roadtrip drama before a happy ending sounds good to me.

A month without Mercy Thompson?! Maybe in February... but January brought me part seven of Patricia Briggs' series. "Frost Burned" is another good one but also not my favorite of the series.

Storm Front by Jim Butcher marks the beginning of another series. Part one of the books about Harry Dresden brings together classic detective stories and big city magic. I was reminded of a certain Mercy Thompson rhythm and got curious enough to read another one at some point.
