dahlquist - the glass book of the dream eaters

In "The Glass Book of the Dream Eaters" von Gordon Dahlquist verfolgen wir die Geschichte von Celeste Temple, Cardinal Chang und Dr. Svenson - ein ungewöhnliches, mehr durch Zufall zusammen geworfenes Trio. Alle drei sind wegen einer Geheimgesellschaft in die Geschichte verstrickt, die ein makaberes Verfahren gefunden hat, wie man Gefühle, Erlebnisse und Erinnerungen in blauem Glass konservieren kann. Deren Intrigen und Machthunger müssen durch die drei Hauptcharaktere unbedingt gestoppt werden.

Das Buch wird selten langweilig und die Beschreibung der Charaktere ist wirklich eindringlich und lebhaft gelungen. Manche Zusammenhänge haben sich mir allerdings nicht aufgetan und das Ende war enttäuschend flach, wenn man die sonstige Tiefe der Geschichte betrachtet. Einen Film zum Buch könnte ich mir aber gut vorstellen.

All three of them are in this adventure due to the cabal that has developped a macabre procedure to conserve feelings, memories and experiences in blue glass. The intrigues and the hunger for power of the cabal have to be stopped by the three main characters.

The book kept me well entertained and the description of the characters is both lively and insistent. Unfortunately i could not follow all the connections and the end of the story left me a little disappointed. I could well imagine a movie with this story, though.
